This book is designed to introduce students to traditional fiddle tunes, combined with familiar classical melodies in fun, easily accessible arrangements. In the twelve duets included in this book, the first violin part is designed for the more advanced student, on the level of Suzuki Violin School, Books 3-5. Third position, rapid passage work involving string crossings and chromaticism are utilized. The second violin part ranges in level from Books 1-3 and remains in first position. Double stops can be found in both parts. In the second violin part, double stops usually involve open strings.
